Olof
Larsson was born 1976 in Ystad, southern Sweden. He started riding
in 1987 at a riding school in his hometown. As a child he showed
ponies in jumping, dressage and three day eventing. At the age of
14 Olof outgrew one of his smaller ponies and started to drive it
instead. The two of them did very well at Combined Driving shows,
they ended up Reserve National Champions in 1993 and won the National
Championships in 1994 as well as 1995. In 1995 Olof stopped driving
the ponies and started driving horses.
In
the year of 1995 Olof graduated from High School as a High School
Engineer. One week after graduation he started to work for an internationally
very well known Swedish Four-in-Hand driver, Tomas Eriksson, World
Champion in 1990 and 2000. At Tomass farm Olof received a
great deal of basic knowledge in Single, Pair and Four-in-Hand driving,
he also learned how to brake horses into the carriage as well as
re training them.
After
two years of working at Tomass farm, going with him to national
and international shows, Olof decided that driving was his destiny.
In 1996 Olofs application to the University of Equine Studies
at Flyinge, the National Stud of Sweden, was accepted. He was thrilled.
The education he received there he sees as one of the best experiences
in his life. He studied at Flyinge as a driving student and in 1998
Olof graduated from Flyinge as a certified stable manager and young
horse educator.
In
the late fall of 1998 Olof and a friend of his were invited to show
horses in hand for Hilltop Farm MD in the States. They went and
Olof realized he really enjoyed it over there. He came in contact
with Chester, whom at that time, needed help in his stable. The
two of them started their, soon to be, very successful relationship
in January 1999. They have a contract till the World Championships
in Aachen 2006. Olof's favourite horse in the barn is Jamaica
